Frost over a couple of nights earlier this week. Currently 85F. Red Flag warnings are up. Tornadoes & storms tonight. Freeze over this coming weekend. Rinse & repeat. This Butia has been out for a couple of weeks. Happy as a clam.

I spent time on the west end of MS. Tornados always arrived 9PM to midnight. OK is the place I'd never live.

Well, as promised freeze overnight.

The weatherman said that the temps this morning were the coldest on this date since 1910. Going on to say "they had horses and buggies running around Monument Circle (Indy) at that point". Didn't bother covering up Butia. They do just fine in this weather.

Yep, 23 this morning and 19 yesterday morning.  Quite a change from temperatures in the 90s earlier in April.  But it is spring in the Midwest.

That sucks!

Hope we trend upwards. However I just saw the forecast and potential frost/freeze for us later next weekend.

Ugh!

April 20 is usually the all-clear for frost here. Now, tonight, frost warnings up and close to freezing overnight. 80s by Sunday and through next week. Fortunately a warm winter and 2nd year for the Needle in the ground... Growing.

When you get out can you start posting pictures of the Sabals that you mentioned were growing and thriving in Chicago?  @teddytn

Subscribe to my YouTube here  to follow along my Sabal obsession....  Quite possibly one of the biggest Sabal plantings in the US.

Yes will try to if my parents allow since my grandparents from Poland came after being not here for 5 years.

If not I’ll send pics on what’s growing around my neighborhood and the tropical garden I’m going to work on.

“Safe to plant” when I lived in northern New England was Memorial Day. 🙄 we definitely had late May frosts and I got smacked many a time planting veggies before Memorial Day.
