Date palm seeds and queen palm seeds

From your experience, how long do dates and romanzoffiana take to germinate?

*Important point to add is that I’ve had them germinating for exactly a month tomorrow.

Depending on freshness and ambient temps, several weeks to multiple months. Try not to get impatient; palms are not marigolds that germinate in a matter of days. Some palm species can take years to germinate (dates and queens are not those). I let my seeds germinate outdoors - you can’t, of course - and I usually don’t see any action until daytime temps go above 80F. Now I’ve got seeds popping that I potted last fall. If you aren’t using a heating mat, consider placing your seeds outdoors during warm days. Dates and queens are easy germinators given lots of heat.

In my experience, Phoenix palms, including seeds from store bought dates, germinate rapidly and with little effort.  I've had them germinate in a covered plastic container just sitting on the counter.

Queens can be a little more temperamental,  though in some areas they germinate so well they are considered weeds.  As Meg said above, heat helps with them, and this document might help you.

I attempted it a couple of years ago. Used the moist peat in a sealed bag method. Layed it on top of my furnace. Took about 2 weeks if I recall correctly, but only 1 sprouted. It is now approaching 1 foot in height.

I have a few Phoenix Dactylifera I started back in the winter and are fixing to repot them. I guess they do best on a sandy loom soil.
