Acrocomias are definitely worth it, They handle a good amount of cold without getting any damage and they grow extremely fast. I put 2 Acrocomias in the ground in different locations. One in my yard and one in the sidewalk of my house (I'm going to have to trim the lower fronds of that one once it grows big) the one in my yard is starting to push its 3rd leaf since I planted it on the ground and it's also going pinnate. The one outside is almost fully pinnate and pushing the 2nd leaf since I planted it (I planted it 3 weeks ago).

Here's the one in my yard (The mexican variety of Acrocomia Aculeata from Tabasco)

Oh Lordy they get big fast, like 30-40 feet in ten years in Orlando, and spiny.

But glorious.

The mexican variety tends to stay dwarf for some time, the fruit is easy to collect.
