Hello. I had two cabbage palms in my backyard. One died a few years ago. The remaining palm now has holes in the trunk. Can someone please tell me what I can do to remedy this pest issue.

Do you have any idea what may have caused the holes? Woodpeckers will drill holes in Sabal palms seeking grubs but the holes are usually much smaller. Looks almost like something was trying to burrow into the trunk. Palms are unable to “heal” mechanical damage so there is not a whole lot you can do to remedy it without causing more problems. If the boots are loose you can try to remove them to get a better look at the holes.

BTW, what’s with all the criss-crossing wires?
