The more of the pseudo-stem that is protected the larger (taller) they will be next growing season.

Here's a smaller banana relative that is quite root hardy with mulch (Musella lasiocarpa). This one's out grown it's pot and will have to be planted soon. The plant itself is 4½' tall currently and is heavily clustering.

Also got the palm bug yesterday and i got me 3-gallon windmill with a thick large trunk, more of a five gallon since its been sitting in its pot at the store for months, anyways i repotted it with most of its roots intact, apart from one tiny piece that i cut off, since the roots were trapped in a pot not able to expand, i think it will do very well in the pot and will keep it acclimated so it stays on the patio on some cold days

Isopods are also my very best gardening friends, i got so many mushrooms in the mulch, not a bad thing since it means the soil and mulch is fertile and composted, since we composted food scraps and put it in dirt over the winter last year, but the isopods ate all the mushrooms and chewed them down clean, i still sprayed vinegar just in case for the mushrooms not to pop up again.

Update today! All my washingtonias that were sprouted in february are starting to grow mature fronds, for the new section, i planted musa acuminata, musa basjoo, canna tropicanna suckers, some green form cannas, calla lily, and some other cannas! Everything is going great and suprisingly a banana flag leaf is coming out this early for the acuminata! Not all photos but most of them summed up! Not all of the plants are shown like the frontyard colocasia and some of my potted washingtonias.
