Offensive advertising on this forum

I'm just curious if anybody else is seeing any inappropriate advertising on the site? I have seen sexual content (nothing pornographic, just items for sale) and t-shirts with political nonsense. Admins, are there any controls around that sort of thing?

Yeah - I've noticed some sketchy stuff sneaks through at times. I can check into it and see if something has changed.

Have you tried clicking on the "controls" for the ad in the top right corner of the ad? That is supposed to give the user some control over what gets served to him/her.

Not sure about Firefox, but Duck Duck Go blocks ads.. here at least..  When i'm setting up a new Lap Top / logging in again here is about the only time i'll see ads..  After clicking them into oblivion a few times, they stop appearing.

Ive closed out some ads using this feature, asked it not to be shown to me again. Well, whats the next ad that pops up in its place? The exact same one. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. Ive had some ads like this popping up for a good bit now. Here recently ive been seeing more car ads though so thats good haha

I saw an ad on here last week that had me scratching my head. I could not figure out what the heck it was. Curiosity got the better of me and I clicked on it, then spent the next 10 minutes doubled up with laughter.  It was a padding device for men's swimwear !! Not exactly a tasteful topic or suitable for a gardening site, but it did make me consider the fun I could have if I wore one to the beach under my 'togs'

Peachy.

Keep in mind, that as with almost all free media these days, advertising helps keep it free.
