Phoenix Dactylifera (in troubles?)

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I '98, I started my first Phoenix Dcatylifera from seed, and after 10 years I planted in a large container (70cm deep and 50 in diameter). I manteined 10 years more in the same pot, until year after year, (reaching the 20th year of life plant)  the palm completely "escape" from the container because the deep roots pushed up the tree. Then was very dangerous from the moment the wind if strong may throw the palm out from the terrace. Then, with sadness I cutted.

Now from 5 years I planted again another dactylifera, (cannot resist without palm hehe) in the same pot, but seems not so fast growing and roots are not pushing out the tree.  Better

Now, my worry is that, this palm, this months only ) looks like suffering of somethin, but has no pests and I water like I did with other palms. I fertilize 1once a week from april and I also tried iron, but nothing changed, except seems new leafs are sprouting a normally and may be fast)  It's strange, the winter here was not cold, and the position is south, the sun is not the problem, I'm thinking that may be some water logged at the bottom of the pot occurred.  Anyway, hope someone can help me.  The fertilizer is 10.5.5 even if the previous palm I think I never fertilized because already fast growing and no symptoms of weakness.

Thanks for your help and advices

Best regards

Marco
