After that winter I was surprised to see my odorata producing a spathe.

Can anyone ID based off the flowers?

Also - I appear to have fruit setting so I am assuming this may be self fertile. We do have a few in the area but they aren't common.

Nice. Is it aptly named? Are the flowers fragrant?

Your surrounding landscaping looks beautiful!

Thanks @Manalto

I cant detect any fragrance however there are plenty of pollinators that seem enamored by it.

This butia was in question a few years ago because of the seed stock. - odorata/capitata/catariensis

If you grew that from seed, wow! If not, wow! Really nice palm…do you have to protect it a lot in winter.? The creeping Jenny cap you have at the top of your waterfall is really a nice touch…really nice setting there.

@Jeff zone 8 N.C. coldest we got in december was 10.2F. However there were over 80 hours below freezing with 3 nights in the teens back to back. It was severe.

@GregVirginia7 Thanks Greg! Not from seed. I picked that one up at a local nursery on March 7th 2020 I believe. I haven't needed to protect the Butia except in December - there are several around that do fine.
