just a question.  my hyophorbe indica has a crown problem perhaps bugs? its tall hard to go up there and look. love these palms, sad.   is this common any comments.  ft pierce fl, btw they grow very well here.   tks

Photo? I lost one this year too but it was due to a rhinoceros beetle.

Show us a picture or two. This is a species I love. I was also able to see them in the wild back in March. More of them should be grown just in case they disappear from the wild completely.

Sorry to tell you but that is a Spindle palm not a Bottle.  I don't know why it needed to be propped up. From the photo it appears to be quite healthy and that flowering display is magnificent.

H. Indica will have a straight and medium diameter trunk compared to the other two Spindle and Bottle.  Those look like Spindle aka H. Verschaffeltii.  The narrow middle and the wide spot near the bands is pretty distinctive.

As far as the crown issue you mentioned, it looks like the one in the photo has a new vertical spear getting ready to open.  The flowers coming out of the side is normal, if that's the "crown problem" you are referring to.  It's unusual to see so many all at once, but totally normal looking.  There's more photos here, with a bunch of flowering pictures about halfway down:  https://www.palmpedia.net/wiki/Hyophorbe_verschaffeltii
