A Mealy Bug is a Dypsis is a Chrysalidocarpus.

This C. mananjarensis making a nice addition to the garden.

Damn….what a beauty. This is an example of what you get after 5yrs in Hawaii and 35yrs in California. Good news is I’ve only got 34yrs left. 🤘

Can palms thrive despite having mealy bugs or scale if they are big enough?

Mealybugs are probably the #1 villain vs houseplants, but in nature frequent rains and mealybug predators can sometimes keep their numbers under control. Some insects eat mealybugs which is one way to control their population.
