What’s your go to solution for brown tipping? I was looking around and notice how common it is for most of my palms to brown tip, on old and recent leaves. This includes various species in various cultures, all in the ground in SoCal. I have fertigation and drip

How have you solved brown tipping?

Im not sure whats causing the brown tips but i think i have some reasons

1.Both too much and too little water will damage palms and will lead to leaf browning. Most palms prefer to be watered when 50% of their soil volume is dry. Always check the soil before watering to make sure it needs it.

2. Theres also something thats called "tipping" in palms it happens when the tip's of the leaves dry.The most common cause is tap water, which contains salts, chlorine, fluoride, and other elements that may be harmful in excess amounts,so i recommend using distilled water.

3.Over fertilization also cause browning
Use a fertilizer formulated for palm trees at the rate recommended on the package.

4.If the area you live in is cold, frosts can make the tips of your palm brown

Hope this helps!!

You have a small amount of sunburn also, and heat would exacerbate the above reasons too.

Not an expert as I don't have fertigation or drip, but I would guess that while drip is good for root zone watering as well as saving water, it may not be enough of a flush to the soil to remove excess salts and mineral build up especially if its constantly getting a fertilizer dose? Some of the palms that are maybe more sensitive to this sort of thing will brown tip some? If you think about how after we get some decent rains the next fronds that tend to open up are really lush and perfect.
