I recently cut a popcorn tree down and had the stumb ground. I then built a raised island in the yard and some of it covered the area where the stump was. I got the dirt all spread out how I wanted and went to plant the first plant which is a cidp. I could only dig about a foot and a half down before I hit part of the old stump. My question is if I were to plant this 5gal CIDP over this old stump will it cause problems down the road as it gets larger and possibly unstable if the roots keep running into the old stump or will the stump rot before the tree gets big enough that I have to worry?. Thanks alot, James

Nah, I wouldn't think it'd be a problem...  I would just put that baby in the ground!

I have done this plenty of times, no problem. The palm finds it's way into the soil and even enjoys the rotting stump over time.

Sounds good, I figured it would take 8-10 years for the plant to start trunking so the stump should be good and rotted by then. Thanks for the replys. James
