Anyone else in so cal growing this? This was a total impulse buy . Mainly because I’ve never seen one for sale here. Got it earlier in the year in as a small one gallon . Seems to be a fast grower .

Not yet, i grow coco queen hybrid, sancona, pseudococos, schizophylla and picrophylla. Amara and oleracea were on the list but I think I’m Syagrus’ed out

‘Syagrused Out’, now that gave me a chuckle. Surely a new botanical term.

when i was in barbados, the oleracea were everywhere ...  they are by far superior to regia in my opinion.  very graceful and beautiful palms ... unfortunately, royal palms never look as good in socal as the ones i see growing up in miami.  i guess i am biased because i grew up seeing very massive royals everywhere.  but kudos to those that grow them in socal.

please ignore this comment.  apparently ... i am syagrused out like @Tracy surmised.  🤣

Tin we have genus versus species confusion.   Perhaps that is what happens when we get Syagrus-ed out.   I am not familiar with the palm referenced in the thread Syagrus oleracea.   Like you though I am familiar with Roystonea oleracia, one of the Royal palm species.

Looking forward to seeing how this little palm performs here in Southern California.  Will have to look it up too, in order to see how it differs from the Syagrus I know.
