That's a cycad I think, but not a palm.

It is a cycad, ancient coning gymnosperms more closely related to conifers than flowering palms. Cycads have been around for 100s of millions of years, palms only in the past 70 my.

It is a cycad that is almost certainly Cycas sp.

Yeah I think so too.  The only other one that popped into my vacant mind was Cycas Elephantipes, but I think that one has more "crinkly bark" on the trunk.

I have Cycas siamiensis Dwarf grown from seeds I got some years back from RPS. Would love to see them look like that.

Yeah same here.  I bought some seedlings from Thailand before the import crackdown.  They are slow and still only a few inch caudex about 3 years later.  Mine are in almost full sun with lots of water, how are you growing yours?

I think I have 3 that survived Ian. They are in 1g pots and have 1-2" caudices. I plan to keep growing them and don't know when/if I will plant them.
