Sabal palmetto growth

Ive counted 8 new fronds on my Sabal palmetto this season . The older fronds were tip damaged , as you can see , by 6F last December .I had a heavy wet snow 2 years ago and that is demonstrated by those fronds that are at the bottom that are sagging down . So I have the new , this season fronds , the cold damaged tip fronds , and the low snow weighted down fronds , all in one picture .😀

It's a happy palm .

That was a super nice recovery.  Damaged fronds will be gone in no time.  My smaller one has just put out 3 fronds

It's small enough to take some manual hedge clippers and clip off the tips that are damaged , and I planned on doing that , but I'm lazy . It would take 10 minutes . Maybe I'll do it in the next few days , now that it's fresh on my mind .

Thanks for the write up I was thinking you might have just posted a rare pic of a possible “weeping” var. of S. palmetto…appreciate the context that was key. :greenthumb:

Thanks

I bought it from a landscape company in  Wilmington NC that said that  they sourced it from Northern Florida native seed stock  . So it should be a relatively hardy palm .

I've never counted fronds but that seems to be great growth and a happy palm. Your doing something right.
