In search of free Trachycarpus Fortunei seeds. Lost my two T. Fortunei this past winter in the NC mountains and I want to try them again, as I have since moved to a more suitable climate.

Thanks.

I notice your location is now listed as the outer banks. What part of the coast are you located now? If you are one of the islands then you are located on sand most likely. There are a few places there with a sandy dark rich soil. Trachys do not prefer sand as I think that means nematodes. They can grow there, if you take good care, and can get big,  but die sooner as the nematodes take over. You may need to amend the soil heavily. Having said that there are some nice Trachys around there. and with seed.

Hey Jeff! I am currently located in Carteret County. I have heard about the nematodes being an issue in certain places here. Also, I haven't had much luck finding a seeding Trachy around these parts. Only been here since September, so I assume I missed the window to collect fresh seed. Thank you for the reply.

I know I have seen some where you are, before but can not remember where. Just keep an eye out. There should be seeds till Christmas at least. Also New Bern has a lot of Trachys so you should have luck there. If I find some I will let you know.
