Good day everyone. I’d appreciate inputs on the ID of the Brahea that I’m posting today.
I’m leaning towards it being a B aculeata due to the long thin looking petioles compared to the leaf size.
it has brown tomentum on the petioles closest to the trunk.
It has glossy green upper leaf surfaces and silvery undersides.
petioles are armed.

I am growing 3 Brahea aculeata from 2 sources. They are silver on both sides of their leaves. Brahea dulcis is extremely variable, and some have two tone leaves. It's a confusing genus. To add to the confusion, there are many color forms in many of the species.

Hi 85°, Lo 53°

You are right. It is a very confusing genus. Thanks for weighing in.

Hi 85°, Lo 53°

Any pictures of your Brahea aculeata?

Thanks.

Here are the 3 Brahea aculeata I'm now growing. The one in some shade was purchased from Jungle Music Palms in '14. I first bought one from them while I still lived in San Diego. I was so impressed with it, that shorty after moving here, I included it in my first order to JM. I'm happy to report that it is identical to what I grew in SD. Hopefully they're still carrying these from the same source. The ones in full sun are an Ebay purchase from palm_flora in Lafayette, CA. I think @Ben in Norcalknows the name of the grower.
