Plumeria questions

I've never grown plumeria before, but I was gifted a couple cuttings from Barry. I just cut down a couple 1/2 gallon milk jugs I found and plopped them in. One wasn't rooting yet and you can barely see any green on the nubs, the other one had some super teeny tiny roots and a smidge of green. That one, a Plumeria Singapore, is absolutely blowing up. I've had it a month, and I can see tons of roots and it grows bigger every time I look at it. So, my first question - when should I give it a bigger pot? I didn't expect it to grow this much this fast.

The other one, Aztec Gold, same conditions same light same watering etc still hasn't started to root. Is there anything I can do to encourage it?

In my opinion, the Plumeria Singapore can be kept in that container for a few more months. With the Aztec Gold on the other hand, I would dust it with a very thin layer of rooting hormone.

Hi John,

The “Singapore” which will either be a white or pink Singapore, I didn’t mark it when it broke off. It should be fine in the pot for awhile. In my opinion, they don’t mind being a little root bound. The Aztec hold is usually a good rooter, it might take till next season to root out. Mine are starting to shut down for the year, even though it is still hot here. I know people have stored them bare root over winter, then potted up in the spring.
