Bill, Great shots and thank you for the post on a well known but rarely seen Garden by any human eyes I know.

What you look for is what is looking

Thanks Bill.  I read David Fairchild's book "The World Grows Round My Door" last year.  I was delighted to hear that The Kampong was still intact and got to visit it this spring.  Having read the book made it all the more special.  It is a true treasure.

This is one of the pictures I took there

Bill,

Thanks for posting the photos! Is it open to the public? And exactly where is it located? Also, does anyone know the meaning of the name?

WHEW!!

Interesting fact about this place: The Kampong is "controlled" or governed by The National Tropical Botanical Garden who is headquatered on the Hawaiian Island of Kaua`i

Bill,

Thanks for the additional info. Had no idea NTBG on Kauai was involved. Good to know if I happen to be heading your way... :)

It was a cool place, loads of tropical flowering trees and many cultivars of fruits!  Fairchild was an amazing hoticulturalist.  The man that guided us through the 11 acres was overflowing with facts and information... I didn't know much about much there, I know a teeny tiny bit about palms, other than that, I have no clue about plants!  The doorways and some decor reminded me of Pohonkelapa's Bali photos...

Yes William, it did look very Bali like.

Also very well kept.

Any more pics.
