Queen Palm - New Fronds

Recommended Posts

Hello. Our palms are growing new fronds down near the ground. Is that normal and should we leave them or cut them? See photos attached.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

The good news is that your palm appears to be flowering and the bad news is that it’s not a queen palm, it looks like some sort of Chamaedorea species.

Ok, but can I cut those low fronds?

You could cut those ..developing Flower stalks.., but could leave them until after they have flowered ( ..and set some fruit / seed ..if you have both sexes. < Chamaedorea are dioecious = each individual plant is either a male or female.. Rather than each plant producing flowers that are both male and female.> )
