Hawaii Palm seed Collection

Im looking for spots for different palms in the island Maui when I go to hawaii for 8 days. Thankfully my parents are not the typical stay at the resort ones and like to explore, so I have the opportunity to collect palm seeds from places I want to visit, like park or hikes, and the botanical gardens also sell seeds for very cheap prices I heard before. So if anyone has any recommendations for where I should go to find some stunning palms and possibly harvest seeds from them, please suggest!

Hey! I don't have an answer as to where exactly to go on Maui, but from my experience from the Big island, you can find them everywhere. I was able to collect seeds from palms growing along the road. But if you go into State parks and go on hikes on some of the nice trails, you will typically find tons of different Palms with Seeds on them or some that just dropped.

My advice however is to clean them extremely well and soak them in a hydrogen peroxide solution, go to the Airport the day before you leave and have someone from Agriculture inspect them and put their stamp/sticker on it as they are very strict about letting things out that has the risk of harboring disease.

Hope this help somewhat.

I've gotten seeds from a resort at mexico in my luggage and it passed through, they were washed beforehand and dried, and they are also present in the U.S., the Cocothrinax and Queen palm seeds I harvested myself.

I have gathered seeds on Kuaii and Maui and never had a problem . As was stated , wash or scrub them well and then wrap them in paper towels and into baggies.  I found so many seeds when I was there and I gave them to a friend who likes to grow from seed. Harry
