Caryota Mitis?

Just spent a few days in Orlando and collected some seed from this Caryota at the hotel we were at. Pictures aren't the greatest I know but does anyone know the species?

Im not sure, but there is a caryota mitis in the resort Im heading to! Answer to your question, looks more like a maxima or urens, from the look of it.

Caryota mitis is a clustering fishtail - all of the other Caryota species are single trunked as are two of the Wallichia species.  Hard to tell from the picture but it appears that it is clustering and mitis is the most common species.  The fruits aren't ripe - they turn to a reddish color when ripe so the seeds aren't likely to germinate but it won't hurt to try.

Sorry for off topic comment but i realized i put rubber mulch around my palms and the cannas, im worried it can kill the plants since they release harmful chemicals. Any idea on what to do? Im supposed to fly out tomorrow in the morning!

Good question as I saw ground-up tires used as mulch around Orlando some years back.
