Also you or anyone I want to know this what size should I get to start these plants. they sell them 1 gal, 2 gal, or 3 gal. Which do you reccomend?

Just a little info. When you see a name likr Sabal Minor Mcurtain.  The name is usually the county or area they come from. Mccurtain, Oklahoma, their also Warren County Arkansas they are others but these are considered more eco type. They are still found in the wild. So the minors are found okl, ark, Louisiana, TX s car ga, AL, fla and a few others the more North were they originate from in theory should be the most cold hardy. I recently just got seeds from minors just south east of Atlanta. Which should be pretty cold hardy.  Myself I like knowing history on my palms or seeds I get. 2 things about most minors. Very cold hardy and very slow growing. They love heat and water. They are also called swamp palmetto.  Besides a slow grower they can have sensitive roots. Some people ships bare root and some ships potted. Potted usually does much better on minors. I've bought Trachycarpus out of UK bare root and all survive. I like planting in may and gives them plenty of time to get established for cold weather. So for size to buy I don't see that as an issue. Larger cost more and bigger full size. I'll say this on mccurtain. They are nice but they are very slow growing. Not saying I don't recommend them their just slow growing. Most minors usually come from individuals, plant delights does havr mccurtain, https://www.plantdelights.com/products/sabal-minor-mccurtain several sells them on eBay and etsy. I'm sure some members here also may have some. I can get you a list of the ones I know has a good reputation. Tom in Texas (sabal king) there's a place in Ohio a lot orders from. I can work on a list for you. I doubt large box stores won't offer minors. I think all I'll have will be 1 yr old seedlings.

Woah those seem on the pricey side haha. I’m just afraid of spending 80 dollars on a palm tree just for it to die right away. Do you know if they have a guarantee some places if the tree dies they send you a new one for no cost

Some are pricey. I'm not sure about a guarantee, larger minors takes a while to grow.  That's the reason I grow mine from seed. An $80 minor maybe 5 yrs old or more. The place in Ohio seems to have a good reputation.

I’ll ask them when the time comes. But I’m telling you go on Etsy and punch in Palmpei they have lots of Tracy’s and sabal minor in a fairly large size for a decent price. They aren’t sure if the palms grow in cold areas they get them delivered to the nursery

I also want well established ones so I can just plant them in the soil right away. I don’t want to grow from seed

I bought my Butia and Washingtonia from Palmpei. He's in n car. He would be good. My only issue would be he ships bare root. I've bought bare root minors before some does ok and some don't. Most have done ok. He always has pretty good prices. He's also good in responding to emails. At least the couple times I've contacted him.

You know, Im opening a business right now and Im about to recieve some sabal minor seeds and seedlings. I also have trachys growing and have a nice 7 gallon right now. Ill sell for 120 since it has a fat stout trunk and has been acllimated.

I reached out to Palmpei and he said he could make exceptions by request. He just increased the shipping price a bit.

Yep palmpeii is a good dude. Always had good palms show up from him

This summer I went to Chatham and I believe I saw a needle palm or something that looks like one in the southern part or eastern part of the town. The wequassett hotel if i recall has tropical plants in the summer if I recall correctly. The only images of palms at the hotel are these, a ponytail and another one (Sabal minor, windmill, or needle?)

You’ve probably seen other tropical plants/palms just haven’t noticed. I guarantee they are there, especially in nicer parts or the islands. The ones above are potted up so they don’t count. This is the only ‘proof’ I could find. There was also a reddit thread I saw a while ago

Also I bet other mass people on this forum or anyone have probably discussed hardy palms in our wonderful state. You know, another thready discussed sabal minor range and cape cod was highlighted in a ‘possible’ range. If you search up ‘palm tree range map’ there are pictures that include long island and the cape. The needle I saw could’ve been anything, but I guarantee it was one.

There’s other means to come by palms. Check out the for sale section on here. What are you looking for by the way? I have a metric assload of seedlings at the moment

Well this spring I want at least 2+ gallon or 2-3+ year size sabal minor windmill and needle but there are a few nursery’s around here that sell them after reaching out. We’ll see what happens

For the last time, I have three to 7 gallon windmills available for shipping for just 80-100 dollars! I can ship them to you when spring arrives.
