We are soon to move home and we have a cornish palm that my wife planted in her nans memory. The seeds that are available from it are last year’s flowers and are still attached to the tree. Could I use these seeds to grow a new palm once we move or is there any way I can propogate from from a sprout off the trunk or from a cutting? I’ve read so many things saying you can grow from a cutting or only from seed. Sorry for the war and peace size question. Clive.

Cordylines are not palms, and yes you can grow them from seeds and cuttings. To grow from cuttings, you can cut approximately 1 foot off the top, dip in some rooting hormone (not necessary) and stick it in some soil. It’s best to keep the cutting moist but not soggy. Keep it where its warm and gets bright but indirect sunlight. It should root in 4-8 weeks.
