So I picked up a bunch of seeds from this Brahea Armata today. I'm curious about how to go about germinating them.

My current plan is to let them soak for 24 hours on the heat pad, remove any of the fruit that I can, I guess soak again in some hydrogen peroxide (how long? Should I dilute? It's 3%) then I will put them in a zip lock with some wet paper towel and wait for root to form.

Let me know if I should approach differently. How long do you think it will take?

Photos are of the tree I grabbed the seeds from. All the seeds were gathered from the ground with fruit on them.

I've had good luck with sprouting them in bags with moist potting soil on a heat mat and directly in small pots on a heat mat.  As long as the seeds are fresh and they get the heat they need, they sprout reliably in 4-8 weeks.

The big HUGE thing is that they don’t take moving well even when small.

Soon as they send a root out our EACH sprouting seed into its own liner, and don’t set on the ground to root in.

Brahea seeds germinate after having passed through a period of cold. Whenever I tried to push them to germination through artificial heat, I failed miserably.  Besides I suspect that a certain temperature fluctuation with a fairly high peak  is needed daily so that   germination can be triggered. That said, B armata seeds are one of the easiest Brahea spp to germinate naturally in my climate. Seedlings pop up everywhere and they get weeds.

This one in the picture below, sprouted by itself in a pot.

My experience is that they require some cold before they will sprout. I planted fresh seeds in dirt in community pots in the summer heat. Nothing... Seeds took several months to sprout, but started coming up like grass the following spring.

Good to know. Since it's winter now, I wonder if these seeds will react to the heat pad, as if the winter season has ended?

Interesting about the cold! Curious to know how much and for how long.

Useful information.  I have my eye on some seeds on a specimen growing not far from me.
