Does anyone have any experience digging up and dividing a mature clump of Phoenix reclinata?

or even just digging up one of the smaller suckers to transplant like you would a banana?

I don't have any experience with in ground adult P. Reclinatas to dig up or separate the suckers, but I will post the base of 2 different clumps that I have collected seeds from being pollinated by P. Canary & P. Roeb.  Looking at these bases,  It's too much work and my feeling would be devastation to the live suckers...just my opinion.  Can we see a photo of your project?  Both of these appear to have similar pure P. Reclinata traits, but I have never located a P. Reclinata pollen donor.  This first photo is easy to notice the entire clump, but the second photo is more difficult but look at each regrowth that is less than 1 foot of green.  Both of these 2 palms have been planted more than 50 years ago.
