The southern lawyer cane or wait a while it will grab you and not let go growing in dense rainforest alongside archontophoenx cunninghamiana  and linospadix monostachya in the understory growing into the tree canopy searching for sunlight a great Australian palm for any collector of rare and unusual plants it needs plenty of room and water a top Australian rainforest palm

Thanks for posting these beautiful pictures. Habitat shots are always special. I have one plant of this species gifted to me years ago. I think I need to plant it in front of my kitchen window that already has Linospadix and Archontophoenix cunninghamiana going well. 

Millbrook, "Kinjarling" Noongar word meaning "Place of Rain", Rainbow Coast, Western Australia 35S. Warm temperate. Csb Koeppen Climate classification. Cool nights all year round.

Yes a collector's palm, but we need seeds for propagation!

Luck has it the one in my garden is flowering now so fingers crossed I might have a couple of seeds but that’s certainly not going to flood the market I have spent manny years  in the Australian bush and look for the seeds whenever possible so far none found the best chance I have of ever finding another plant for sale is from a rainforest nursery or the markets in my area they are super rare

I love looking at habitat photos it’s like being there and yes plant it asap in your living Australian garden by the window

Calamus is dioecious, I fear and especially functionally dioecious. At least this is the case with C caryotoides.
