I'm in search of Sabal palmetto seeds from the BHI, NC population and am willing to pay any reasonable price. Thanks!

Keep checking this forum as people do make the trip now and again and offer seeds. The problems are that your timing has to be good as the seeds either are eaten by animals or birds or are naturally prone to fall off so they do not hang on the trees long or at least that was my experience of over 3 years of searching. A lot of trees are way too tall to collect from. The island is mostly privately owned and you either have to ride a foot ferry , that years ago cost $25 now is definitely more and need to rent a bicycle which I do not recommend, for an enjoyable trip. The island is large and you will want to see it all so golf cart rental is the way. If you have your own boat then that would work. The seeds are full of beetles too so not all seeds are good. Someone on here offered seeds a couple years ago. Gary's nursery near New Bern, N.C. may offer potted palms but HE DOES NOT SHIP. Potted palms are the way to go as his palms are well grown, true to type, and would put you years ahead in growth

Do you only want seeds or are you interested in small plants too? I have a couple that I germinated from a trip last October that are working on their third leaf in 1 gallon pots. My germination rate was very poor since seed isn't ripe in early October. I happened to find a few early ones.

I also went back on vacation in early May and found some old seed on the ground that I'm trying to germinate. I can report back if they are successful.
