Hi I recently got a canary palm installed and noticed these dark spots on a lot of the cut portions. Most of the spots were soft in the outside area.
Anyone know what this is? I also noticed a very large amount of ants living around the base of the tree.

Welcome to PalmTalk!  The ants are doubtfully any threat to your palm.  I don't think any ants are known to damage palms, but perhaps a wiser PalmTalker will correct me.  The soft, dark spots are rotting "wood".  I'm not sure how far this will penetrate, and whether this constitutes a threat to your palm.  Hopefully a Florida expert will comment.

Thank you for reply. Good to know about the ants. I’m hoping the rot stops at the base
