I planted my Washingtonia palm. I think this is a hybrid. I wanted Filifera so badly. But I do love Robusta too. So I thought why not get a hybrid to enjoy both characteristic of traits it will have.

Like I wanted to plant by the pond in the garden the garden bed zone. Where there is still plenty of room to allow the truck to grow. Thinking of planting another one by another angle of the pond where I share my property line with my neighbor.

I will wait and go to Theodore Payne Nursery for a pure California Fan Palm.

Originally wanted to plant against corner of the pond. But I just think that space would be better with Strawberry Tree like I wanted originally.

It is small and dominated by the Perriwinle vine (Vinca major). I destroyed the vines. But with their invasive growth, it will reclaim back. 😹

I just can’t wait to see the Palm grow.

Hi there ,

Most Washingtonias are hybrids.  It's almost impossible to get a pure one unless you get seeds from a tree where you know it's a pure Filifera or Robusta but that's OK.  A hybrid Filifera will look like a Filifera , mostly .

Not my business but I need to point out that you have planted your palm tree way too close to the fence wall. That trunk will cause damage to it for sure. Should be planted a few feet away from any structure.

Enjoy your palm tree and it will bring you joy and happiness.

Yes. I'd plant that a minimum of 3' from the wall.

I've seen palms lifting up sidewalks over here.

Surprisingly I’m not too worried. I am definitely going to replant it again more toward eastward where it currently planted, away from the sprinkler.

Another hybrid Washingtonia Palm I bought from Lowe’s. I couldn’t take my kind of having split palm.  Seem to have the most Filifera traits with being more green and the spines on the petiole being not predominant.
Planning the exact focal point to plant around the edge of the pond. Will be another modified spot to do more landscaping.

Got the second Washingtonia palm planted. Going to place more river rocks. Maybe some ground cover. IMG_8191.thumb.jpeg.eed5bc40fabc89b15f127dee98ecca4f.jpegIMG_8190.thumb.jpeg.cb3af86036110042cc2f7a99ce3f837c.jpegIMG_8189.thumb.jpeg.3b8ecdabd7db0b106bb5883fd7d85e2e.jpeg

Sago Palm I had since high school. It was kept in a big pot. Until it showed stressed. Planted in the ground since 2019. Been happier since.

My mom wanted to hide the electrical box. So she bought this Mediterranean Fan Palm. It has grown so much since bought as a tiny palm.
