Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens - Williston, FL

Visited Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens in Williston, FL.  The garden had a lot of interesting plants to compliment palm plantings of Bismarckia nobilis, Sabal palmetto, Livistona chinensis, Washingtonia robusta, Butia odorata, Syagrus romanzoffiana, Rhapidophyllum hystrix, Chamaerops humilis, Rhapis excelsa, and various Chamaedorea species.  There were many species of cycads, bamboo, gingers, and hardwood trees as well.  Overall, the best part of the garden is the use of the steep relief of the terrain and the readily available rock that is infrequently available in peninsular Florida.

Photo Group 6: There are markers for various landmarks throughout the garden as the paths twist and turn around planting beds made of stone.  At the back of the garden, there is another lake and a 500-year-old Live Oak.  The Pet Cemetery is a nice touch for Stephen King fans.

I went there last year with family, such a wonderful, neat place.  I was more amazed at the amount of Japanese maples they have throughout the gardens.  We are planning another visit as when we went a lot of plants were still dormant so we didn't see how vibrant the grounds truly can be.

My wife and I went there a few years ago. We have been meaning to go back because it is only about 20 minutes from where we live. It is really incredible all that they’ve done with the place. Thanks for sharing!
