Tonight was a great bloom for our cereus, while pictures don’t really do it justice I thought some may enjoy.

Yeah it’s huge and loves the dead oak tree as a host. The flowers are massive and put out a really nice mild aroma.

Charlie the dog is also a beast at 100+ lbs, lol!

:greenthumb: A 100Lb Tank was what i was thinking..  Beast, the Canine kind,  is 22lbs of 4 legged lightning  who isn't a big fan of bath time, ...or having his nails trimmed.. No need to wonder what a Tasmanian Devil sounds like, i have one, haha. 😁

Can't remember if it was up there somewhere in St. Pete or Clearwater, or down near Sarasota but there was a house i'd pass every so often that had a specimen of this Cactus danglin from the interior of a large Ficus.  Always missed seeing it in bloom but from it's size, about the same as yours,  i'm sure the display would stop traffic.

Inspired, i decided to finally plant this skinny and starved for attention piece i've had since collecting it in   .......2015.

Has sat neglected on one of my cactus benches -in wayy too much AZ sun-  since moving here in  ....2016.

Talk about tough..

We'll see if it gets clingy w/ the Ficus..  :greenthumb:

I know Sarasota just had a viewing event at the botanical gardens, there around and always quite the show.

Was always impressed when i'd see their specimen,  though i'd manage to miss seeing it in bloom too when visiting, lol.  Think the Huntington ( in Pasadena ) has a good sized specimen as well..

Botanical gardens here and in Tucson hold a special viewing night for a related night blooming Cactus, Peniocereus greggii  each year that attracts a lot of attention.

If you know what to look for, you can find those growing out in the desert as well.. Stems are more of a scrambler that lean on other stuff,  that emerge from a massive tuber  than vining / climbing like Selenicereus.

Growing an extremely rare, red flowered Peniocereus sp. native to Puebla and Morelos. atm.

:greenthumb: ..Will be interesting to see how quickly it takes off now that it's feet are unrestricted, and isn't being blasted by all day sun.  Had 2 other Selenecereus sps but those didn't make it past the 2nd summer here..
