I’ll be extra obnoxious and say that my personal pet peeve is when people refer to “Latin names”. They are scientific names, botanical names, binomials or other more precise designations. Many botanical names are derived from Greek or are just pretty much made up to sound Latin. I’ll go back into my cave now 😀

Hah, true!  In reality many of the names are combinations of Greek and someone's last name.  For example, Encephalartos Whitelockii is named after Loran Whitelock, they just added "ii" to the end for good measure.  And the origin of Encephalartos is a combination of three Greek words.

I guess I'll go back to saying "Cocos", and let everyone wonder if I mean nucifera, australis, or plumosa.
