A good source for certified seeds of sabal causiarum and California fan palm

Hi all,

Is there a reliable source where I can buy those seeds?   I bought some sabal causiarum palms a while back.  After a few years,  I realized they are just normal sabal palmetto's.

Thx

Can't speak for Sabal causiarum  but, if you're looking for 100%  legit CA Fan palm seeds,  take a look here: https://store.theodorepayne.org/collections/seeds-1.  Specialize in CA natives and sell them there.

Hi, I live in N. Texas and have some S. causiarum in band size and some larger. If you're interested send me a message.

Interesting Site.

Unfortunately, it says it couldn't ship 1-gal filiferas to my house address.

Don't ship plants, just seed..

Foundation / founder are one of the main pillars of both the Hort. industry and early native plant conservation advocates in the state.

@Silas_Sancona's right - only way to get +/- 100% filifera is having someone collect seeds from habitat.  If you're OK with +/- 90% filifera there's a dozen or so really thick trunked filifera in a local Lowe's parking lot.  There's thousands of hybrids and robustas in the RGV but none particularly close to the Lowe's so chances are good to get something close to the parent palms from their seed.

Theodore Payne only allow pick up for actual plants sold. Seeds are the only thing they will ship.

:greenthumb: Yep,

Can remember back to the first time i bought seeds -of any kind- from somewhere.   Came from them and at that time, ( mid- 90s ), Pretty sure they weren't offering plants,   at- all-.

I have a bunch of newly sprouted California fan palms that are very small. I am not interested in trying to ship them, since I doubt I could get them to you alive at this size. I would be happy to give you a few, if you are ever down here between San Antonio and New Braunfels though.

Here are the seed source trees in Phoenix, they looked like as near 100% filifera as I felt I could find:

Hi Ben,

The massive trunk looks like the real thing.   I wish I had picked all those seeds when I was in palm spring.  In Austin,  only the true California fan palms survived the big freeze a few years ago

Thx Ling
