Stopped by Hammocks Beach State Park (located in Swansboro, North Carolina) earlier today. There has been a recent prescribed burn within the park; hence, the severely damaged clusters of Sabal Minor.

The forest service usually assists in prescribed burns and sends people out before the burns to rake away debris around woodpecker nesting trees but so far are not enlightened about doing that for Sabal minor. That's likely because there are so many S. minor in eastern N.C. and they will grow back out easily. Maybe someone needs to point out that birds, deer, foxes, and other feed on the S. minor fruit
