Fox Tail Palm brown spots

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Hey everyone! So, I bought my Fox Tail Palm in Orlando, Florida back in May, and I absolutely love it. I don’t remember if it had brown spots or a bit of yellowing when I got it, but it does seem to have a few spots. It’s in a pot, and we’ve been watering pretty much daily because it’s been really hot and dry here in Southwest Virginia. Do y’all have any suggestions as to whether it’s too much watering, or what it might be? The soil seems to drain well. Thanks!

Yes, the leaf color tells me it's overwatering, in my experience Wodyetia don't like wet feet for a long time, they like to dry between watering. I water mine (which already has a trunk) every 1-2 days and it grows nicely. I don't have any pics of it right now unfortunately.

I definitely appreciate your input. I’m going to try watering it less frequently. I kind of wondered if it was being overwatered, and info I found online awhile back mentioned the same thing, not to overwater wodyetia. Hopefully some dry time will help.
