Windmill palm fronds curling and opening early

It sounds like your windmill palm might be stressed due to a combination of heat, watering habits, and possibly nutrient or root issues. Watering twice a week for 5-10 minutes may not be enough, especially in near 100°F temperatures. Try a deep soak that allows water to penetrate the root zone—use a slow drip for 20-30 minutes instead. Brown, crunchy tips could also indicate salt buildup from soil or fertilizer—flush the soil periodically. Nematodes are less likely but not impossible; checking for root health was a good step. Consider mulching around the base (avoiding the trunk) to retain moisture, and monitor closely.

I wanted to give an update on this windmill. It spear pulled the other day.  I then decided to trunk cut about 7” off the top and there seems to be some live/white tissue. I doused it in copper fungicide and now will wait to see if any new growth pushes up.
