Anyone know any cocos in Orlando? I think they would be quite rare in 9b/10a but im curious if they exist there. Please give photos of the best ones you have seen!

Thanks

Plenty. As well as quite a few getting close to maturity in coastal Volusia County.

There are plenty listed in the Orlando thread kinzyjr linked above. I just so happened to drive by this one just yesterday on Hoffner Ave and it caught my attention. This google street view photo is a year old, but there are more coconuts on it today.

Here are some planted at a retail spot just South of Downtown Orlando at the intersection of Orange Avenue and Kaley Street.  The largest one has a bloom emerging.  So, there will be coconuts hanging on it very soon.  These have been there for years as they were all planted as seedlings.

There are approx. 6 fruiting Cocos here in Holly Hill that I know of . They were here in the 2022 Christmas freeze , but were of size when planted .

All received some damage .  HH is on the west side of the Halifax River , but is essentially the same microclimate as the beachside .

(The Xmas freeze was not up to long time standards . Low of about 27 here , and windy .  One day event .    Piddling .)
