A couple of quick photos from Google Maps (Feb. 2024).

Lakeland City Hall: Has added some trunk and frond width since this photo 5 months ago.

Barnett Park: Those who went on the summer CFPACS tour remember this one.  It looks a LOT better than in this photo now and was impressive during the tour.

Lake Wire: They pruned this instead of letting it self-clean.  It's a relatively recent addition.

I'll get some better photos of these next time I'm downtown.  Mine is growing well, but still a little smaller than these since I bought it small.

It sounds crazy but I like how the trunks look stunted/bonsai even when planted out in the landscape.

Carpoxylon macrospermum, yes definitely a beautiful palm - at any time. Here are a few of mine. Most of the palms in the photo are Carpoxylons except the tall palm on the right (a Clinostigma samoense) and the somewhat robust Chrysalidocarpus sp. almost dead center in the background.

I just planted mine. It was a three gallon just starting to go pinnate and getting roots out the bottom, so i decided to get it established sooner than later. Fast grower, but im finding many palms grow roots much faster than the spear grows. I placed it in the edges of the forest canopy about 20 to 30 feet from the house.

It’s getting crowded back here but this younger one seems to be doing well. Looks like it will be awhile before I start seeing a trunk though.

Yeah, great palms at any size, but I do rather like them at the size in Bubba’s first post. Being able to look ‘at’ that beautiful crown shaft rather that ‘up’ at was a nice focal point in the garden.

These are now very tall and majestic with quite the collection of babies at the bases. 

In the one photo the Carpoxylon’s are the two tall ones on the left.
