Anybody know a good mail order site for a Trachy that is not in Florida? Hoping for a NC grower. The placement would be on the Chesapeake Bay in MD.

Northeast Ohio palms sells on Etsy and EBay. I know people on here have been happy with what they received.

I like Northeast Ohio Palms. Plant Delights also has some Trachys in stock.

@MattInRaleigh I don’t know about the claim of 12’ of growth in one year. That is an unrealistic statement. I am also unaware of the Taylor’s seed strain. Harry

Probably 12" and not 12'.  1 foot per year sounds reasonable to me.

Hopefully that was supposed to be 12" .  My rocket palm put on about 3' of trunk in a year though

The “Taylor’s” seed strain is popular in the Raleigh area and some of those palms have been around since I think the 1980’s in Jaycee Park. Here’s an old article with pictures of that Trachycarpus seed strain in the early 2000’s at the park. They’re still there today but look neglected:

Plant Delights Nursery also sells it and has a bit more info on it:

That is amazing that it survived that low temperature. Windmill palms are hardy but that is very low temps . A nice selection of cold hardy palms at the park. Thank you for sharing , now I can say I’ve heard of that strain. Harry
