I was walking through the front yard and found this.

It was off my watermelon Chambeyronia macrocarpa and got knocked off by an old falling frond of it's own.

It was the first one that looked to be holding viable seeds. I  suspect since still green,  they are not ripe and ready to go? ☹️

Anyone have good knowledge on this?

Zone 10a at best after 2007 AND 2013, on SW facing hill, 1 1/2 miles from coast in Oceanside, CA. 30-98 degrees, and 45-80deg. about 95% of the time.

I do some experiments and learning in my garden with palms so you don't have to experience the pain! Look at my old threads to find various observations and tips!

Maybe put the base where it was attached in water to see if they will ripen? Harry

Ouch! For whatever reason, they look a little bit small still Bill, but you never know. I’ve had the same question on some of my Pritchardia seed that gets knocked off or falls prematurely. That is one beautiful tree from my recollection…
