Three Headed Pindo Palm Grows a 4th Head

Hello All,

Is anyone from your group aware of another 4-headed Pindo palm?  I know of the Panama City Pindo, cut down in 2018 but I'm curious if any others have surfaced.  The attached pictures were taken on the campus of Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL.  This Pindo was documented as a 3-headed palm in 2012.  Then, just a few weeks ago we noticed it was growing a fourth head.  Can anyone from your group discuss this subject with me for a story I'm producing about our 4-Headed Pindo?  Please feel free to contact me at 850-645-6023 or msplummer@fsu.edu .20240808_111312.thumb.jpg.61e1a17a6a4714324743ff32e468dddc.jpg20240808_111352.thumb.jpg.1a504ffb5df98a6e4c7d6631a540c200.jpg

Thank you,

Mike Plummer

Is the quad head in the photos at Tallahassee or at Panama City? You mention that the Tallahassee Pindo developed the fourth crown only recently.

Robbertico18,

When you get a picture of your Savannah pindo, could you also email me a copy?  My email address is msplummer@fsu.edu .  Thanks.
