The zone 8 Sabal palm there is extensively protected. The coldest continental fringes of Cfa humid subtropical are barley zone 7, but the core of Cfa is typified by the very large area of zone 8 and 9 in the southeast, entirely encompassing multiple states, with long and very hot and humid summers, but does reach over 40 degrees latitude to NYC and to at least 25 south past Orlando, both "broad transitional zones" between the next colder (D), or warmer tropical (A) climate.
