The Glossy red tail black cockatoo Calyptorhynchus lathami

Iam very fortunate to have the glossy red tail black cockatoo that inhabits my area where I live. A very rare endangered species of bird. When on my property working you hear the faintest little sounds thats a little clicking cracking sound that is ever so soft with a tiny little squell of a pair of birds feeding. They have become use to our voices and we don’t seem to worry them to much. Every time I see them I feel a great connection with nature thinking what a great joy Mother Nature can bring to a soul. The video footage of them drinking is a special moment. Our conservationists friends tell us it is rare footage that they are forwarding onto the land care group they are involved with as it is a sign of breeding pairs in the area. And I I do find the nest it shall remain a very guarded secret.

A beautiful bird! Thanks for sharing!

Your welcome absolutely amazing bird to see in habitat. A species of bird very reliant on the nuts of the casuarina sp or she oak.

You're killing me with these wonderful Aussie birds!

To me Australia has some of the most beautiful birds in the world. I travelled Europe once the first thing I noticed and missed was the song birds of Australia singing in the morning!
