Obtained this nice palm from Mike in Kurtistown, thanks Mike,  but at the time unsure if lauterbachii or schefferi.  It is about 5 meters tall now and about to climb above the white torch ginger so I am wondering if an ID is apparent yet?

I'm leaning towards scheferri but you'll know better once it flowers.  If scheferri it'll have white flowers then dark purple fruits.  I believe lauterbachii have the typical bright red fruits.

I think lauterbachii. I have raised both species, originally from seeds collected at the UHH (Univ. of Hawaii} Arboretum in 2007 and 2008. I am raising schefferis now from my own plants. From my notes, the lauterbachii fruits were pale orange, whereas the schefferi fruits were purple-black. The leaflets on both are cuneate, but the lauterbachii leaflets are more separated than those of schefferi. The terminal part of the schefferi leaf is somewhat rounded, and schefferi is more densely clustering than lauterbachii. On mature lauterbachiis, the individual stems stand out more clearly.

Here are pictures, the first of my two shefferis taken recently and the second, a poor picture of one of my lauterbachiis taken two years ago:

At the time, Mike, you thought lauterbachii but were uncertain.  In either case its a fine palm thanks again!

Sorry.  Just saw this.  Elongated fronds and fishtail like leaflets.  When schefferi suckers, the new growth is entire leaf or very wide, two lobed leaves.  Also schefferi has a much more compact crown overall.
