A nice parcel from RPS arrived today after customs held them up for two months. Iam happy to get them finally some dypsis basilonga they were starting to germinate so a good sign we have life already. Then some astrocaryum standleyanuma and with some zombia antillarium  the dypsis onilahensis weeping form. The usual treatment for them all that I use should do the trick in germination. Still for the zombies to arrive on Halloween evening scary stuff I say 🦇👻

The Basilonga are nice but a bit slower , for me , than other Dypsis that I have . I’m not sure about germination as mine was already a few years old when I got it. Nice batch of seeds , worth waiting for . Harry

Took forever to get through customs due to a backlog. From what I can tell basilonga likes a bit of warm weather tolerance of cold is good. But they slow down in winter. I had another 3 packs of seeds but customs found mould which was there fault due to taking so long to clear (due to a backlog) so they got destroyed after many emails phone calls and a bill of $485 aus dollars for requests of further inspection and treatment. Which all attempts failed so a nice bill from them. These seedlings will be exspensive to buy from me that’s for sure. And they wonder why rare palms are exspensive try Importing seeds and get bills like that you have recover cost some how or just take a loss that’s business.

That absolutely stinks. They hang on to the seed for two months, mould starts to form, so they destroy them and charge you $485 for the privilege. Wow. Absolute incompetence on their part. Now if they had competition they wouldn’t survive. I think there is a case for a privately owned quarantine company. The government has privatised everything else. If they can’t run quarantine properly they shouldn’t charge anything for their “services”. It sounds like they’re running quarantine with as much care as the Immigration department. They have a “too hard” pile and they will get to it when they can be even bothered.

Millbrook, "Kinjarling" Noongar word meaning "Place of Rain", Rainbow Coast, Western Australia 35S. Warm temperate. Csb Koeppen Climate classification. Cool nights all year round.

Yes absolutely disgusting performance from a government department with no regard for rare and endangered plant species to start with. Put on extra staff that’s the government with its put everything online and save money with artificial intelligence. Well that’s  intelligence the government doesn’t have that’s for sure. They just do t want you to impart if they had there way complete ban on imported seeds. I guess i can join a long line to the complaints department and take a number and wait………
