Slaving away in the garden, look up, and I thought it would make a purty picture. Chrysalidocarpus (Dypsis!) lutescens “Oddball” (my pet name).

I did the SAME thing this evening! I was working in the garden (new garden so everything is small right now) and it was somewhat cloudy, but getting darker, and I thought the colors looked really nice and snapped a quick picture.... And then I saw this thread.

Ha! The best I could do is snap a quick shot on my way to work today with the morning sun coming up. I’ll see what I can do when I get home.

@Josue Diaz Love those pictures of your garden, I like that picture of the walkway leading up to the house surrounded by plants. The mix of palms and cactus is really cool.

@James B Nice garden, I like the rock arrangements you have, it's very creative!

It is!!! There use to be two - one on either side of the walkway. There was also a GIANT, 100-yr old ginkgo just to the left of house which was causing everything to lean south (right). We removed the ginkgo when we noticed it started leaning - we could see the trunk visibly getting closer to the fence every year, and we were afraid it would eventually come down on our house. The two phoenix were too bulky for that entryway so we removed one and replaced it with a young ambositrae. The ginkgo was replaced with a Cassia fistula.

Here's that phoenix at eye level. The trunk  has a really cool lean to it because of that ginkgo. The base of it is over by where the elephant ears are at the bottom right of the pic.

Thank you! we love the big agaves - especially Marmorata, which looks like an octopus about to pounce on you as you walk by it.
