Our first rain of the season in Southern California

In my area  , it has been very dry . My daughter in San Diego has had rain already this year but here at our place , it has missed us. Saturday it rained lightly , not a gully washer but steady , light rain. Sunday I went out and just enjoyed the ambiance. The cool , damp feeling of nature watering my garden for me! I am pretty good at watering but I can’t compete with nature and rain. The nurturing of the rain after the brutal , harsh wind we had not long ago is very welcome . I just had to get out and enjoy. Pretty much the same here. Just a bit of a pizzle drizzle.

The rain is what will stop the wildfires for the season.

We got a tiny bit of rain in Fresno (everyone north of us got a good amount of rain over the weekend), but you're right it does feel good after such a long, brutal summer

Which one ? I have a few, Obtusa , Urens , and Mitis. The first pic shows a glimpse of one Mitis and the last pic is another Mitis to the right of the Venezuelan Royal. I have a couple of others. Harry

Very nice garden shots Harry!  Hope y'all get some decent rain.  My palms here were mostly just existing through the dry hot summer with city water irrigation but are now really growing well with all the rain we got in September and October.  No rain this month yet though.

Looks great!

All of the irrigation in the world is just no substitute for a good rain. It just seems to liven everything up nicely.

Flooding rains up here in the Bay Area. Some areas of the North Bay got a whole year’s worth of rain (over 20”) just a couple of days. Looks like some dry and warmer weather for the first two weeks of December. :)

Oh no! You have good drainage where you are? Hopefully just a good soaking for the water lovers, Harry

Excellent drainage here. The ground just seems to suck up every drop of water no matter how much is dumped on it. :)

I honestly do not think it is worth keeping on with palms in my garden! I mean if palms during summer do not have enough water for a decent appearance, local winter is anyway to harsh and most of them suffer. What is the point of keeping alive plants, that will never look lush and beautiful?
