The property where Dick Douglas created one of the most significant hardy palm gardens in California is for sale. It's in Walnut Creek, just down the road from the Ruth Bancroft Garden. Dick and Ruth were friendly and exchanged plants. Many of the older palms in the public Ruth Bancroft Garden originated with Dick.
The current owner renovated the house to great effect, and did an excellent job maintaining and improving the garden. Let's hope whoever buys it appreciates the garden.

Thank you Jason. Great photos, the palms do indeed still look terrific. Dick pioneered the northern California chapter, served as a president for the International Palm Society, and bequeathed  a large sum of money to the IPS upon his passing. Clearly one of the titans of our organization.

Wow, the whole property looks like it needs nothing; the landscaping is very livable and straightforward to maintain. The palms are beautiful. I could live with it!
