Hakeas seem to grow very well here in SoCal; this laurina is less than 3 years old and is about 8-9' tall.

Peter: Seeing your H. laurina in bloom and doing so well,  I decided to get one myself (picture below).  I already grow H. salicifolia in-ground here in NorCal and it's doing well.
